Emily covers the role of the Mother in American composer Gian Carlo Menotti’s heartwarming one-act opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. The opera follows a young shepherd boy with a disability, his caring mother, and three travel-weary kings.
Written for television in 1951, it became an instant holiday favorite. This powerful tale of overcoming challenges and discovering the true meaning of giving concludes Shakespeare Opera Theatre’s year of American operas celebrating America 250.
